"MITCHELL PRIZE" awarded to MUCM Team Members

The prestigious Mitchell Prize for best Bayesian Statistics Paper 2010 has been awarded to MUCM Team Members Ian Vernon & Michael Goldstein (as well as non-MUCM member Richard Bower) for their paper on Bayesian uncertainty analysis:

 

I Vernon, M Goldstein and R G Bower (2010), "Galaxy Formation: A Bayesian Uncertainty Analysis", Bayesian Analysis 05(04): 619--670 (with discussion)

 

"The (Mitchell) Prize is awarded in recognition of an outstanding paper that describes how a Bayesian analysis has solved an important applied problem. The Prize is jointly sponsored by the Section on Bayesian Statistical Science (SBSS) of the ASA (the American Statistical Association), the International Society for Bayesian Analysis (ISBA), and the Mitchell Prize Founders' Committee...The Prize includes a commemorative plaque and an award of $1,000"

UCM Conference Series
The UNCERTAINTY IN COMUPTER MODELS 2010 CONFERENCE took place at Kenwood Hall, Sheffield in July 2010. Please see www.mucm.ac.uk/UCM2010.html for further information.

Project Team Meetings
Full Project Team Meetings are held every 6 months; the last one took place on 14th-15th April 2011 at NOC, Southampton. The next team meeting will be held on 21st-22nd September 2011 at Durham University.

We are pleased to announce that the application for translation funding for MUCM2 has been awarded by EPSRC. MUCM2 will start on 1st October 2010. More information about MUCM2 can be found here.
