Alexis Boukouvalas obtained his BSc. in Computer Science (1999) from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne (UK). He then worked in the software industry focusing on database query processing, developing various methods for efficient index creation and utilization.

His research to date has concentrated on real time systems and database query processing.

Alexis is a research associate at the University of Aston, and his research is focused on all aspects of emulation of stochastic models, including experiment design, approximate inference and validation.
