UCM stands for Uncertainty in Computer Models, and this mailing list is for announcements and general discussion regarding statistical methods for quantifying, analysing and managing the uncertainties in the predictions of complex mechanistic models.

 

The list is established as a result of additional funding being awarded to the MUCM group, part of which funding is to enable MUCM to provide a focus and services for the wider community of people active in this field. We are building on the successful UCM2010 conference, which brought together many people with interests in computer model uncertainties.

What can you tell us about?

PAPERS: any papers/reports (old, new, preprints) that the community might like to know about, whether by you or other people (please include full citations and download links). EVENTS: any conferences/workshops/courses/events which have a UCM component (please give web links, titles, dates, location, description) TALKS: any talks/presentations you are giving or have given (please give presentation download links). IDEAS: any ideas you may have that you want to share with/ and get feedback from the community, as well as any ideas you may have for improving communication and building this community. ANYTHING ELSE: please just tell us about your work!  This is such a diverse field, with activities and publications spread across so many different disciplines, that it really is difficult for anyone to be aware of all that is going on. This kind of communication is absolutely vital to bring the community together and to share knowledge. You may think your work is not terribly exciting but there are others out there who don't know about it and really will be interested.

 

If you have anything that you would like to post to the UCM list, please send it to ucm@lists.shef.ac.uk. Your email will then be circulated, after moderation, to the entire UCM list community. It may also appear on the UCM digest which is circulated to the UCM list 4-8 weeks after your original posting date.

 

Accessing the Archive Pages

You can access the posts at any time through the mailing list archive pages. In order to do this, you will need to register on the mailing list pages:

 

To obtain a password to log on to the archives:

• Unless you are a University of Sheffield Member, you should firstly obtain a password by clicking here. You will be asked to enter your email address and a password will be sent to you.

 

To login:

• Go to : https://lists.shef.ac.uk/sympa
• Log in with your email address and password (or username and password if a University of Sheffield member). You can change your password through the "Preferences" option.

 

Viewing the archives:

• Once you have subscribed and logged in, "UCM" will appear under "Your Lists" on the left side of the page. Select this, followed by "Archive". You will then be able to browse and view each post. Recent posts will also be shown as a bulletin on our News Digest within our MUCM pages.
